As always, this mattress is NEW inside and out and sealed in plastic, with an attached FACTORY tag/label with a SERIAL NUMBER and a manufacturing date that is CURRENT. A missing or blacked out serial number means the warranty has already been used and the mattress is a PREVIOUSLY USED mattress. When in doubt if you are buying a NEW mattress, check for 1. The mattress has a VISIBLE serial number with a CURRENT manufacturing date; 2. The mattress comes with a warranty from the mattress FACTORY not just a warranty from the store; 3. Ask if the mattress has a MATCHING foundation (boxspring) even if you aren't purchasing one. If it does not have a matching foundation (boxspring), the mattress is USED! If there is a bright yellow tag attached to the mattress that states, "This article contains ALL SECONDHAND MATERIAL consisting of: CONTENTS UNKNOWN", the mattress was PREVIOUSLY USED in someone's home and SLEPT on!
